Sangrur sits in the middle of Malwa, on the road that links Patiala with Bathinda and Ludhiana with Jind and Haryana. It is a farming and trading district, and a lot of families here have relatives abroad. That means airport trips are a regular part of life, and the real question is always which airport to use.
Quick answer: For most Sangrur and Sunam passengers, Chandigarh Airport at about 110 km is the nearest big option, with Delhi IGI at roughly 270 to 290 km for international flights and Halwara near Ludhiana for Air India Delhi flights. Message us on WhatsApp at +91 99148 41000 and a fixed fare for your exact route is confirmed within about 10 minutes.

Our which airport for Punjab guide explains the trade-offs. If you are leaning towards Delhi, our Delhi Airport taxi to Punjab page lists the options, and the Malwa cities to Delhi Airport guide shows how towns like yours usually plan the drive.
Sunam and its place in history
Sunam, about 13 km from Sangrur, is known as the birthplace of the freedom fighter Udham Singh, born in 1899. Many visitors, especially those with family ties, ask to stop at the memorials in town. We can fit a stop into your route; just tell us when you book so the driver plans the extra time.
Sangrur district also includes Dhuri, Lehragaga, Longowal and Dirba, plus Bhawanigarh on the Patiala road. Dhuri is a railway junction, and Longowal is a familiar name in Punjab history. Each of these sits a different distance from the airports, so give us your village or town and we will work out the route.
The road corridor
The road from Patiala to Sangrur and on towards Bathinda carries steady truck and bus traffic. Heading to Chandigarh, most drivers go via Patiala and Rajpura or via Sirhind, depending on conditions. The Ludhiana side is reached through Malerkotla, so a Halwara or Ludhiana run is easy to plan. If you are heading for Ludhiana for business or a train, our Ludhiana taxi service page has the usual details. For the Delhi leg, see Delhi Airport to Ludhiana taxi for how that corridor is priced from the capital.
Why many Sangrur families choose Halwara
If your relatives fly Air India between Delhi and Halwara, the airport is a short extension of a Ludhiana trip. Halwara has no international service, so it suits domestic connections that continue to Delhi. A new winter timetable starts on 25 October 2026, so check your flight day before booking. Our Halwara Airport guide and winter schedule post have the detail.
Fog and farm-season roads
From December to January, fog can reduce visibility sharply across the Sangrur plains. We advise leaving earlier for a morning flight and avoiding last-minute departures. During the paddy harvest in October and November, slow tractor trolleys and crop trucks can add time on smaller roads, so allow some buffer. Our drivers know the link roads and will tell you honestly if a route is slower than usual.
Hospital, business and family trips
Sangrur residents often travel to larger hospitals in Patiala, Ludhiana and Chandigarh, sometimes with a patient and attendants. A taxi that arrives on time and waits for the appointment is more practical than juggling buses. For such trips, tell us the appointment time and we plan the drive so there is no rush.
For NRI families, we offer name board pickups at the arrival gate and track your flight so that a late landing does not leave you stranded; the first 2 hours of delay are free. See NRI airport pickup for how it works. If your trip also takes in Patiala, our Patiala taxi guide covers the city, and the Barnala and Malerkotla posts cover the neighbouring towns.
